Back in 1976, M&M Floor Cleaning & Polishing started as a small, family-run business serving homes and businesses around Pocahontas and the surrounding communities. Like many small-town businesses, it grew the old-fashioned way — by doing good work and treating people right.
Over the years, M&M cleaned living rooms before holidays, polished school hallways before the first day of class, refreshed church floors before Sunday services, and helped local businesses put their best foot forward. Generations of Northwest Iowa families have trusted the name M&M when their floors needed attention.
Through ownership changes and years of growth, one thing never changed: a commitment to quality work and dependable service.
Today, under new ownership, we’re proud to continue that tradition. We’ve invested in updated equipment, expanded our services to include modern hard-surface and LVP care, and strengthened our scheduling and communication — but we’re keeping the same values that built this company in the first place.

How long does carpet take to dry after cleaning?
Most carpets dry within 6–12 hours, depending on humidity, airflow, and carpet thickness. In Iowa summers with good airflow, it’s often quicker. We use professional equipment that removes as much moisture as possible, so you’re not left with soggy floors.
Tip: Turning on ceiling fans or your HVAC system helps speed things up.
Do you move furniture?
We move light furniture like chairs, small tables, and couches. For larger or fragile items (entertainment centers, china cabinets, beds, pianos), we ask that those remain in place.
We’re careful and respectful of your home — if you ever have questions about a specific item, just ask before we begin.
Are your cleaning products safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use professional-grade products that are safe when used properly and allowed to dry. Once floors are dry, they’re safe for kids and pets to walk and play on. If you have sensitivities or special concerns, let us know — we’re happy to discuss options.
How often should carpet be professionally cleaned?
Most homes benefit from professional cleaning every 12–18 months.
If you have pets, kids, heavy traffic, or allergies, every 6–12 months may be better.
Regular cleaning extends the life of your carpet and keeps it looking fresh.
Can you remove pet odors and stains?
In many cases, yes. We offer targeted treatments for pet spots and odor issues. The sooner we treat the area, the better the results.
For severe or long-standing damage, we’ll be honest about what’s possible before we begin.
Do you clean LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank)?
Yes — and it’s important to do it correctly.
Many store-bought products can leave residue or damage the finish over time. We use proper methods and professional products designed for modern hard-surface floors to restore shine without buildup.
Do you offer tile and grout cleaning?
Absolutely. We use high-pressure cleaning methods to lift dirt from deep in the grout lines and restore the original appearance of your tile.
Grout especially benefits from professional cleaning every couple of years.
What is strip and wax floor maintenance?
Strip and wax (commonly for VCT floors in schools and businesses) removes old buildup and applies fresh protective finish. It restores shine and protects the floor from wear.
We also offer maintenance programs to keep commercial floors looking sharp year-round.
How long before we can walk on the floors?
Carpet: Light foot traffic is okay after a few hours; full dry typically within 6–12 hours.
Hard surfaces: Usually ready for normal use the same day.
Freshly waxed floors: We’ll provide exact cure times — typically 24 hours before heavy traffic.
